Sherrod Blankner lives and works in the Bay Area, in Northern California. She is a founding member of 4th Street Fine Art, an eclectic studio/gallery in Berkeley. Originally a Southerner, Sherrod graduated from high school in Maryville, Tennessee, and attended Yale University where she studied English and Photography.
Although she started as a plein air painter, Sherrod paints in the studio now. Frequently, she collaborates with photographers for her source material. For her Tennessee landscapes, she works with photographer Christina Huntington. Another favorite collaborator is photographer Claudio Cambon who photographs the Western United States.
Sherrod also writes about her painting experience. Her essay, Why I Paint is available as a pdf. The essay will also appear in the 12th Edition of The Prentice Hall Reader in 2018.
